Nvidia CEO: AI Computing Demand Soars as Miners Eye Pivot

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said demand for computing capacity is rapidly accelerating as artificial intelligence models advance, characterizing the environment as a race toward the next stage of the technology. He made the remarks during a Monday Nvidia live event in Las Vegas.

Huang outlined several company developments targeted through 2026 and noted intensifying competition across the AI sector.

He said the computational requirements for AI, and demand for Nvidia GPUs, are rising sharply as model sizes grow by roughly an order of magnitude each year. According to Huang, faster computing shortens the time needed to reach the next milestone in AI progress.

Rising demand may push more Bitcoin miners toward AI

The rapid growth and adoption of AI have already prompted several Bitcoin (BTC) mining firms to partially or fully transition into AI-related computing over the past couple of years.

This trend has been influenced in part by increasing Bitcoin mining difficulty, while AI workloads offer miners a way to better utilize infrastructure and potentially generate higher revenue beyond BTC.

Further increases in demand for AI compute could make a shift toward AI even more attractive for Bitcoin miners.

Huang also discussed Nvidia’s next-generation Rubin and Vera chips, stating they are in full production and remain on schedule.

He said the Rubin and Vera platforms, designed to operate together, are expected to deliver five times the artificial intelligence computing performance compared with previous models.
