Binance seeks MiCA license in Greece as EU deadline nears
Binance has filed for authorization under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) in Greece, as the exchange moves to meet upcoming compliance deadlines. A Binance spokesperson said on Friday that the company has submitted a MiCA application and is working with the Hellenic Capital Market Commission (HCMC).
The representative said the firm looks forward to collaborating closely with the HCMC as the EU framework is implemented and to supporting the long-term development of Europe’s digital finance ecosystem.
France lists Binance among firms not yet licensed under MiCA
The application follows a Jan. 13 notice from France’s Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF), which stated that Binance is among 90 crypto companies registered in the country but still unlicensed under MiCA.
The AMF said it notified companies in late 2025 that France’s MiCA transition period ends on June 30, requiring firms that are not compliant to halt operations in July.

Binance’s spokesperson described MiCA as a significant industry milestone that offers clearer rules, stronger user protections, and a framework for responsible innovation.
Greece has yet to grant its first MiCA authorization
Public data from the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) shows that Greece has not yet issued a MiCA license to any crypto-asset service provider (CASP).
As of Jan. 15, Germany and the Netherlands lead the EU by the number of issued CASP MiCA licenses, with 43 and 22, respectively, while France’s AMF has granted 11 authorizations.
