Coinbase adds stocks and prediction markets in app expansion
Coinbase launches stock trading and prediction markets in drive toward an “everything app”
Coinbase has introduced stock trading and prediction markets to its platform as part of its broader effort to build an “everything app” that extends beyond digital assets.
Max Branzburg, Coinbase’s head of consumer and business products, announced at the company’s year-end conference that stock trading is now available on Coinbase. “This is a major milestone in our plan to enable 24/7 trading of stocks and ETFs from anywhere in the world, powered by crypto,” he said. Coinbase added in a post on X dated December 17, 2025, that stock trading is rolling out in the U.S.
Branzburg also said Coinbase has launched prediction markets in partnership with Kalshi. The rollout begins on December 17, 2025, with availability in the U.S. planned at a later stage.
In November, tech researcher Jane Manchun Wong identified indications that Coinbase was developing a prediction markets platform, which appeared to be supported by Kalshi.
Coinbase is additionally preparing to offer 24/7 perpetuals early next year, enabling users to take long or short positions on crypto and stocks with up to 50 times leverage, according to Branzburg.
Branzburg said the expanded product suite advances the company’s vision for an “everything exchange.” In July, Coinbase began laying groundwork for broader services by rebranding its wallet as an “everything app” and adding apps, social features, and chat.
