Pepe memecoin website exploited; redirecting to malware

The official website of the Pepe (PEPE) memecoin was compromised in a front-end attack, redirecting visitors to a malicious link, according to cybersecurity firm Blockaid on Thursday.

Blockaid reported that the site’s code contained “inferno drainer,” a toolkit used by threat actors that includes phishing page templates, wallet-draining scripts, and social engineering tools.

PEPE’s price did not show an immediate adverse reaction following the incident. The token was up about 4% over the past 24 hours but remains down more than 77% over the last 12 months, according to CoinGecko.

Users are advised to avoid the website until the issue is resolved.
